Insight Society has carried out many successful projects through ESF funds  supporting blind and partially sighted people with training and employment opportunities.  We have supported many Service Users by helping them to develop their CV’s and with job search. We have also trained them to use different ways of looking for jobs. This included applying for jobs online after we had helped them to improve their IT skills, normally also using computer screens readers.

We managed to train people with sight loss to be confident when they were invited for job interviews. For example, we carried out job interview practice sessions. Also, our Service took part in presentations to build their confidence.

Insight Society supported Service Users with application forms and held job clubs where Service Users worked with our staff and volunteers to look for jobs. This was hard work, but it was also fun, interesting and motivating for our Service Users. They started to believe that they can achieve their goals.

This also gave service users chance to meet new people and make new friends. They helped  each other with other life social activities too.

Many service users went on to do voluntary work, some went to further education and few were lucky to gain employment.
